But they did. On April 15, 1947, Jackie Robinson was the one who busted through the color barrier on a brisk day in Brooklyn.

He won Rookie of the Year despite the taunts and threats.

He became a six-time All-Star while opening the floodgates for integration in every ballpark in America.

He stole home on more occasions than just about anyone, and in the end the hearts of millions.

Heavy is the head that wears the crown, but some kings endure forever.
